The Go4theGoal Foundation (G4TG) recently awarded Brian Crompton, MD, of the Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, a $50,000 research grant.
"It is with great honor that we award Dr. Crompton with a Go4theGoal Research Award for his novel translational science research. We agree that this work will likely improve care for children with cancer. He is a seminal oncology expert and recognized leader. It is fortunate to have great minds as his to work on this important issue," said Andrew Mulberg, MD, FAAP, CP, head of G4TG's Medical Advisory Board.
G4TG provides grants to fund programs and renovations that improve hospital environments and services for patients and families.
"G4TG has funded my lab with seed money to develop a brand new blood biopsy assay. The goal is to use it for early detection of cancer in children with an inherited cancer predisposition syndrome. It's a high-risk, high-reward project and we wouldn't be able to get it started without their support," said Crompton.
This is the third grant awarded to a Dana-Farber/Boston Children's researcher by G4TG. Past awards include a $100,000 grant to Dr. Allison O'Neil in 2013, and a $60,000 grant to Dr. Crompton in 2016.
